To the Wood Elves, their forest home of Loren is a sacred place. They guard it with all their strength and cunning, leading invaders to their doom in the darkest tangles of the thickest woods.

Wood Elves

A Wood Elf army can always place an additional forest (use a Citadel Wood) on the battlefield. This is done during deployment, before any units are deployed, and must be placed wholly in your half of the battlefield. This forest is not mysterious terrain - declare its type when you place it. If you cannot fit the forest on your half of the table, move other terrain features by the shortest distance necessary so that the forest can be placed. If you still cannot place the forest, or if the scenario means that the Wood Elf army does not have a table half in which to deploy, this additional forest is not used in this battle.

A Warhammer battle is packed with fantastic creatures and skilled warriors whose abilities are so incredible and varied that the basic rules cannot possibly cover them all. For such circumstances we have special rules – uncommon rules to govern uncommon circumstances. When a creature has an ability that breaks or bends one of the main game rules, it is often represented by a special rule. A special rule can boost a model's chances of causing damage, such as by granting poisoned weapons, or enhance its Strength. Alternatively, a special rule can improve a model's survivability, by granting it a better armour save or the ability to regrow damaged flesh. It is through the use of the special rules that Dragons breathe fire, Assassins strike with lightning speed and Giants cause bowel-loosening terror in their enemies.
